SUBSTANCE, FRIEND, SUBSTANCE!

December 31, 2005 -- Friend,
Substance friend, substance! We will not advance even an inch if we do not prioritize substance. Since Rizal, we have not been free. From fear, from sin, from vices, from sickness, from poverty, from death. Our minds are not free from misinformation. Our hearts not free from hate, selfishness, greed, lust.
Take the oppressor named "vice". Make an ocular survey or let SWS do a survey/study of the trend of gambling for example. And you will see that it is worsening! Take sexual immorality. Or even the state of our children's degree of respect towards us their parents. These things will show us that we are not free nor are we getting freer. Instead to the contrary. That is why I am proposing to you, if you mind, to seek those "teachings" and "truths" about which Jesus said "will set us free... and free indeed"! Freedom must, first of all, refer to freedom of the mind and freedom of the heart from all those oppressors/enslavers. Then, all other freedoms (economic, political, social, etc.) will follow. For if we seek outward freedom, instead of the inner, we will continue to have EDSAs, martyrdoms of many more Rizals, without ever making a step closer to true freedom. So, until now, we are not yet really free. I wish to hear your reaction to what i have just said.
